Make your enquiry follow-up useful.

Customer acquisition

An enquiry is the beginning of a conversation, not a completed sale. For an owner-led business, the quality of the response often depends on who happens to see the message first. A simple, shared approach helps give each prospective customer a consistent experience.

Start by answering the question they actually asked. Confirm what you understand about their needs, explain the next step and identify any information needed to move forward. Avoid sending a long presentation when a short, relevant answer would be more useful.

Agree who owns the conversation and when they will follow up. Keep a brief record of the customer’s priorities and commitments already made. If another team member takes over, they should be able to continue without asking the customer to repeat everything.

Review a small sample of enquiries each month. Look for unanswered questions, unclear proposals and conversations that stopped without a decision. Improve those points before assuming the business needs more leads.
