Prepare for an RPL conversation with a clear work history.

RPL preparation

An initial RPL conversation is easier to follow when you can describe your experience clearly. Rather than beginning with a large collection of files, prepare a concise account of the roles you have held and the work you performed.

Include dates, typical responsibilities and examples of tasks you completed personally. Explain the setting: the type of workplace, the people you worked with and the decisions you were responsible for. This gives the provider context for discussing possible assessment requirements.

Make a separate note of evidence that may be available. You do not need to assume that every document will be useful. Ask the provider what is relevant, how it should be supplied and how confidential material should be handled.

Bring questions as well as examples. Ask what the process involves, what further evidence may be needed and how any gaps will be addressed. Preparation supports a clearer conversation; it does not establish eligibility or guarantee an assessment outcome.
