Keep training connected to the work it prepares people for.
Vocational education
A learning activity becomes easier to understand when its purpose is visible. Explain the workplace task, the decisions involved and the standard the learner is working towards before introducing the activity.
Examples should help learners recognise the conditions in which they will use a skill. A useful scenario includes context and constraints rather than only an ideal sequence of steps.
Ask learners to explain their choices. That conversation can reveal uncertainty that a completed worksheet alone may miss. Use the response to decide what needs clarification or further practice.
Review resources with the people delivering the training. Their observations about common questions and difficult transitions can guide small, specific improvements to the learning experience.
